Description
Monochrome Light is a progressive rock/metal band based in Mexico City, founded in 2007 by Juan López (drums), Julio Radillo (guitar) and Mauricio Cruz (keyboards). It started as a music school project. After winning a contest, they decided to turn the band into something more serious, and, after some lineup changes, were joined by current members Edgar Reza (bass) and Angel Contreras (vocals).
While not shying away from technicality, Monochrome Light strives to place it in service of the music instead of the other way around, as it sometimes happens in the genre. The result is music that is accessible despite having some occasional complex or technical passages. The sound of the band has been compared to early Dream Theater and Yes.
