Animal Ethics
Description
Animal Ethics was formed to address the problem of speciesism, the discrimination against animals who belong to a particular species. This is one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to helping nonhuman animals. Animal Ethics has a particular focus on helping animals who live in the wild because they are the largest and most neglected group affected by speciesism.
We aim to have the biggest impact over the longest period of time possible. We focus on increasing concern for nonhuman animals and on promoting practical work to benefit them over the long term.
We work to increase concern about these issues through online education, talks, seminars, and courses for university students. We have a large resource website with information about ethics, sentience, and wild animal suffering as well as downloadable outreach materials. We also research topics like invertebrate sentience, the wellbeing of urban animals, and the attitudes and perceptions of academics toward helping wild.
