The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) provides data and measures to health services researchers and quality improvement professionals across the United States. AHRQ's Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) is the most complete source of data on the cost and use of American health care and health insurance coverage. MEPS public use files are available for STATA and SAS users. The Hospital Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) provides de-identified administrative data from hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and emergency departments to researchers seeking data on lengths of stay and costs for a variety of hospital services.
