Ad Libitum Voices
Description
Ad Libitum Voices appeared in November 2012, in Cluj-Napoca and is one of the first pop opera groups in Romania. Pop opera means pop hits reinterpreted in an operatic manner. But pop opera can borrow songs, arias, fragments and motives from opera and classical music and convert them with a pop style interpretation.
The musical term “ad libitum”, equivalent to the Italian “a piacere”, means freedom in the interpretation of a musical fragment. It describes the group’s artistic activity best: diversity of repertoire and a personal touch brought to each song. Ad Libitum Voices consists of two tenors, a baritone, and a bass: Tiberius Simu, Sergiu Coltan, Vlad Morar, and Cristian Ignuta - all graduates of the “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, with very active artistic backgrounds. They also collaborate with the National Opera in Cluj-Napoca.
